Maestro Gati is one of the best internationally known Canadian conductors. Most major artists appeared under his baton and he conducted several World and North American premieres of works featuring masterpieces such as Zoltan Kodaly’s Symphony in C. He also commissioned several compositions which became part of the symphonic repertoire. He has been a citizen of three countries and a survivor of Fascism, forced labour, Communism, war, revolution, and even a plane crash. His autobiography, Les Preludes, was published in October 2004.
